I'm in the same boat as
@simon11118. Bought the 5090 for AI workloads without knowing it is less than optimal approach. I'm new to this topic and there is a lot to consider. I'd be willing to accept slight loss in stability, e.g. weekly or monthly issue but so far I have not been able to make it work after 2 days of trying.
Currently I have an Ubuntu Server VM with mainline kernel but I'm running into this error:
Code:
[ 9.794786] NVRM: This PCI I/O region assigned to your NVIDIA device is invalid:
NVRM: BAR1 is 0M @ 0x0 (PCI:0000:01:00.0)

[ 9.798904] NVRM: This PCI I/O region assigned to your NVIDIA device is invalid:

I've already tried the "pci=realloc" cmdline option on the host machine without luck.
I'm not sure of I should keep this card or send it back while I still can. But as far as I know datacenter cards are a lot more pricey so I'd like to at least give it a try to make it work before giving up.
My system is a threadripper 2990wx. Appreciate your help.
