Hi VM is Windows Server 2008R2 A customer has installed Auslogics Boost Speed, a suite of "Clean up" utilities. It includes Disk Defrag, Disk Doctor, File shredder. Is this type of program advisable to run on a VM Regards Tom

I guess that you should ask to Auslogics, for specific compatibility, but imho
- any "logical" utility should be useful as in physical machines (eg: defrag, file shredder). if it is.
- any "physical" utility is not useful, as the disk isn't really physical for the vm.
- the physical disk hosting the vm disk can be monitored wherever it is (local to hypervisor, network storage, distributed, etc): it depends a lot but not from the vm
