Disc has increased size, after storage migration

Hello guys

After migrate a disc with 3 G of size, to another NFS Storage, resulted an qcow2 image of 1 TB!!! Why this happen??

The VM was previously created with a qcow2 disk with 1 TB, but theres sparse space, of course...
I wonder why the disk migration do not mantain the sparse space...

I have seen this happening with Ceph RBD storage, but not NFS. Or may be never noticed.
Simply filling the empty space with Zeros will bring it back to thin provision.

Well... I used qemu-img to compress the file... I just wonder why this happened... If anybody else could enlight the matter, I will appreciate...

Maybe the compression converts the zeros to something else?

Are you sure 1 TB is not the apparent size? Check with du to see the real size. Well, next time, since you've already compressed it with qemu-img.
