I have 3 nodes united in cluster. On one of them 5.1-46 version is installed, 5.2.8 - on the second and 5.2.10 - on the third. It's very funny, BUT live migration from older version node to any of the 2nd or the 3rd node is done perfectly. And at the same time I can't migrate VM between 2 and 3, and sure to 1. Have anybody similar situation? The important thing: It not depends which type of disks VM has - local or on NFS share.

Generall you can live migrate from old to new qemu but not in the other direction.
Sometimes you can migrate back but this is not for sure.

Dear Wolfgang! Thank you for quick reply. Will this situattion changed in the nearest future - I'd like to have the ability to migrate VMs from node to node in dependency of cluster nodes load?

NO, be happy that it works in the upgrade direction.

And one more question - does it mean, that I have to install identical version of proxmox on all nodes?
Yes as by all cluster related software it is better to have the same level of version.
We only test cluster with the same version. So there is no guarantee that this mixed cluster will work.
