Difference between CPU flag pdpe1gb and vm config hugepages: 1024

Hello,

is there any difference between the CPU flag "pdpe1gb" and the "hugepages: 1024" entry in the VM config?

Do i need to activate both or could i use just one of them?

Right now i am using the "hugepages: 1024" entry in the VM config but if this is more native, i would use the "pdpe1gb" CPU flag.
