Did I misconfigure during installation? Local-lvm using up most of my drive

I am fairly new to Proxmox, I previously had a setup on older hardware with smaller drives which I updated with a 1tb NVMe drive. The idea behind it being I wanted to use the NVMe drive as my downloads folder in addition to the OS.

After setting up a few VM's and LXC's I wanted to configure my downloads folder only to realise this can't be done as local-lvm is used by containers and has allocated all the free space. I was able to make a downloads directory on local however this only has approx 80gb which is probably best not touched and left alone.

I've spent yesterday even and this morning trying to learn more about this and what I can do about it. I realise now that I could have given less space to local-lvm during installation, and I think then assigned the remainder of the drive to storage.

I'm wondering now, would I be as quick to reinstall Proxmox and give it less space, can I then assign the remainder to storage? Or,
remove the local-lvm and recreate it but smaller? I believe I will lose all my containers as those are on local-lvm?

What are my options? I'm trying to avoid some mistakes made the first time round by doing it better this time but this was not something I thought I would be faced with.
