Developer Workstations

Hi All,

I wish to install Proxmox as a workstation, with Mint Mate desktop.

I followed this (https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Developer_Workstations_with_Proxmox_VE_and_X11), but it's not clear for me if I have to install Proxmox with a standard installation (https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Installation) or over Debian (https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Buster).

I've installed as standard and then I've run apt-get install mate, but it did not work!

Both should work (on top of debian, as well as using the installer)

what did not work? - please post the output of the commands

I would install it standard and then mate as a vm.

also a possibility - but PVE does exist quite happily next to a desktop-environment (we all here are having such setups)
