The referenced blog post https://ibug.io/blog/2023/07/prolonging-emmc-life-span-with-proxmox-ve/ suggest several non-standard setups (like stopping services, disabling logs etc), so I think it's a bit of a stretch to claim, that the reasoning of the developers was "debunked". And official documentation shouldn't recommend or allow such practices sind they come with their own problems.
