hi there,
we are currently planning if we will replace or extend our current 3-node Dell XC640-10 cluster.

If we buy new, the three XC640-10 will be available for non-productive Proxmox environment.
Hardware should be fairly similar to standard Poweredge Servers.
Each node has 2x Intel 4108 CPUs, Storage is a Dell HBA330 with 800GB SAS drives and a "BOSS" RAID CARD 2ith 2x 240GB M.2 SSDs

Anybody ever re-used Dell XC Servers for Proxmox?

I'll make the claim that this is actually a normal R640. I have always had good experiences with Dell and PVE, already with the PE 1950, over the R610/710, R620 and R630. Even such exotics as C2100 ran with it.

following this up, by now we replaced these 3 xc640 so they are now free to play.

in regards to storage setup, for the 800GB SSDs ZFS seems to be the best variant, as the node has 128GB of RAM and a SAS HBA with no RAID.
For proxmox itself, i tend to using SATA-RAID1 of the BOSS CARD with the 2x 240GB SSD Enterprise PLP SSDs instead of ZFS.
I guess performance should be fine with that setup.

If i decide otherwise and go for ZFS for the system volume, would this be just 2 ZFS pools or are these 2 independant ZFS setups?
In regards of RAM usage, i often find 2GB intial + 1GB per TB as minimum.
Is this 2GB initial per pool or per host?
