Hello, I have one R420 running for about 1 year. unfortunately after a power outage the iDRAC on motherboard has failed. I already tried to reset etc. but it's gone. the configuration was on main disk RAID0 for proxmox and double disks in RAID0 with zfs.

I bought a used R320 (because I don't need double CPUs), swapped RAM and disk, power on. imported "foreign disk configuration" because the dell server knows that disks are from another server.. done.

Now grub start and try to run proxmox but after a while returns a error "volume pve not found".

at busybox prompt I tried to list disks and shows nothing, manually loaded zfs module and if I try to "zfs import" or "zpool import" but I see nothing.

When I start the server I see the 3 virtual disks but from linux seems I cannot access it.
If I read the disk with a sata-usb reader from linux machine I can see 2 partitions, the first is zfs_storage and the second is a 8.4MB dell partition which describe raid info.

Attached you can find the commands dump I run before posting this thread

does anyone have any ideas?

thanks

this no forum for dell raid controller bugs. I would u recommand to post your error there
if u boot an live linux cd and u can not mount the proxmox lvs then it's not a proxmox problem

if u wanne have snapshots and so on then there is no problem to use zfs - u shouldn't use the raid function of zfs
its a hw-raid - he uses mdadm for debugging

Ah ok. Still not recommended if you follow the OpenZFS documentation:

Hardware RAID controllers should not be used with ZFS. While ZFS will likely be more reliable than other filesystems on Hardware RAID, it will not be as reliable as it would be on its own.
...
One might be inclined to try using single-drive RAID 0 arrays to try to use a RAID controller like a HBA, but this is not recommended for many of the reasons listed for other hardware RAID types. It is best to use a HBA instead of a RAID controller, for both performance and reliability.
