Afternoon all,

We have purchased a Dell R640 with a 200GB SSD and 8 1TB NVME drives. My question: better to install proxmox to a NVME and create a thin pool with the other 7 NVME drives, and use the 200GB SSD for VM and Container backups, or use the 200GB SSD for Proxmox and group all the NVME drives as a thin pool for VM's and containers?

Thank you in advance for your time.

You should always use at least two SSDs for the OS. A second one doesn't cost much, but it saves you from some work and difficulties.

SSDs are also sufficient for the OS; you should rather use the NVMe completely for your VMs.
