Hi Everyone,

I have been searching everywhere, but I still have not found any documentation that would confirm that Proxmox VE 7.0 will install and run properly on a Dell PowerEdge R720 which has a D57J8 RAID controller (405-12117 : PERC H710p Integrated RAID Controller, 1GB NV Cache, Mini-Type - Dell Option: 780-13163 : C25 - Unconfigured RAID for H710p/H710/H310 (1-16 HDDs)).

Can anyone help please ?

Cheers, Rick

Even though PVE is based on Debian, the kernel is based on the Ubuntu one. In this case the one from Ubuntu 21.04 with some patches on top.
This means if Ubuntu 21.04 runs on your server, PVE should as well. And if it is just the installer that doesn't work, you can still go the Debian route [0].

Thank you Mira, I decided to put off buying that Dell R720 as I could not be assured that Proxmox PVE and Ubuntu 11 could be verified before spending the money on buying that server. I may revisit the purchase based on what you have mentioned above, thank you once again for your kind assistance and information.
