Dell OpenManage Server Admin on PVE host

Sorry to open old thread but i think Dell(community) support Debian Squeeze now.
I have not tried this on Lenny, i wait for PVE 2.0.

[h=1]Dell OM 6.5 Ubuntu Repository[/h] This is the community supported Dell OpenManage 6.5 repository for 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04 or later versions, and Debian Squeeze. Below, you will find instructions to install and setup OpenManage command-line and web interfaces.

I am using the dell repo.. but its not always easy to get it to work.

As proxmox dont meet all depends.
i think when we get debian6.0 it will not be a problem.

Are there any other way to check hardisk-state live without OMSA ? (sorry not a proxmox, but Dell question)

I'm waiting on Proxmox 2.0 for this to all work right too. Hopefully Dell keep the Debian versions available to stable for some time...

In my case, i use MegaCli64 from LSI website to monitor a bunch of PE2950 with PERC 6i or 5i.
Then i use NAGIOS/NRPE to do the check on my different nodes. That was the start.

I added OMSA 5.5 from sara.nl, configure the smuxpeer in snmp and use the nagios plugin : check_openmanage which gives me :
OK - System: 'PowerEdge 2950 III', SN: 'XXXXXXX', 32 GB ram (8 dimms), 1 logical drives, 2 physical drives
----- BIOS='2.6.1 04/20/2009', BMC='2.37'
----- Ctrl 0 [PERC 6/i Integrated]: Fw='6.2.0-0013', Dr='00.00.04.01'
----- Encl 0:0:0 [Backplane]: Fw='1.05'
----- OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) version: '3.5.0'
And the perfdata for centreon :
|fan_0_system_board_fan_1_rpm=7575;0;0 fan_1_system_board_fan_2_rpm=7650;0;0 fan_2_system_board_fan_3_rpm=7650;0;0 fan_3_system_board_fan_4_rpm=7575;0;0 pwr_mon_0_ps_1_current_1=0.4;0;0 pwr_mon_1_ps_2_current_2=0.4;0;0 pwr_mon_2_system_board_system_level=248;0;0 temp_0_system_board_ambient=26;42;47

MegaCli is much more sensible than check_openmange. As soon as there is a disk error, MegaCli warns me. check_openmanage only become critical when the disk is dead. So as soon as i have a disk error from megacli, i know that in the next month the disk gonna die.

I also did the trick on 2 other PE2950 with Openfiler, but beware, it's much more difficult than Proxmox. Thanks to sara.nl.

I never tried on R2** or more with the new PERC H700.

Hi,

megacli is perfect for the disk but how do you do to monitor the power supply ?

Thanks

I monitor all other hardware with IPMI through NRPE. You have to do some tuning with sudoers AND/OR "chmod 664 /dev/ipmi0".
I joined the scripts for NRPE to check PS,FAN,RAID with IPMI and RAID with MegaCli64.

You can also find another plugin to check openmanage with SNMP if you have configured smuxpeer on the monitored server. This plugin check everything. I cannot upload it on the forum, the script is to big. Address : http://folk.uio.no/trondham/software/check_openmanage.html
