Dell HW Raid WITH SSDS FastPath vs WRITE BACK vs ZFS ?

no, according to the dell page fastpath only affects virtual disks (raid arrays), if you want to use zfs you have to disable raid and switch to hba mode or a hba controller because zfs should have direct access to the disks/ssds

so you mean whats faster?
that depends on your use case and hardware
zfs can be faster if you use pcie gen 5 ssd's but needs more cpu
raid controllers usually have an iops limit and at some point can't keep up with the newer pcie gen5 ssd's iops

I also know this - unfortunately u don't get the intention of my post twice ;-)

Does anybody tested fastpath vs write back and read ahead vs. zfs on dell hw raid and is able and willing to share an recommendation reagrding performance for proxmox indeed....I would share it ;-)

sorry but you did not give much information about what you want to achieve
do you have the hardware, what ssd's (speed) and what raid config?

i cant provide numbers (don't have dell gear) but my point is that fastpath and the other modes may don't matter - depending on the hardware and config you use or intend to use.

in the datasheet it says the perc H730 and H830 are pcie 3.0 cards with 8 lanes so the maximum througput will be 7.877 GB/s, if you hit that limit with your current ssd's and raid config then it won't get faster regardless of the settings

I couldn't be more precise...asking a question in general.
There is a difference between max iops on paper and testet and recommendet settings regarding latency in real world....I was asking if someone did test this already with dell hw. raid gear and is able and willing to share.....hw raid settings and guest cache setting in relation indeed.

I need to test it for myself ;-( and will share it (...).
