Hi, I try to create new KVM virtual host with virtio disk and network card from CentOS-6.1 image saved in local ISO storage. The host is created, but when I start it and try to open the console the window is opened but can't connect to the host. (I see empty white window).

The same process is working nice when I choose IDE disk and real network card.

Here are my Proxmox VE parameters:
pve-manager: 1.9-26 (pve-manager/1.9/6567)
running kernel: 2.6.32-6-pve
proxmox-ve-2.6.32: 1.9-50
pve-kernel-2.6.32-6-pve: 2.6.32-50
qemu-server: 1.1-32
pve-firmware: 1.0-14
libpve-storage-perl: 1.0-19
vncterm: 0.9-2
vzctl: 3.0.29-3pve1
vzdump: 1.2-16
vzprocps: 2.0.11-2
vzquota: 3.0.11-1
pve-qemu-kvm: 0.15.0-1
ksm-control-daemon: 1.0-6

And the virtio module info:
filename: /lib/modules/2.6.32-6-pve/kernel/drivers/virtio/virtio.ko
license: GPL
srcversion: BA15F26F067536AF9DC57AF
depends:
vermagic: 2.6.32-6-pve SMP mod_unload modversions

works here. pls post your VM config (cat /etc/qemu-server/VMID.conf).

what desktop system do you use to access the Proxmox VE gui:

- OS?
- Browser?
- Java browser plugin?

Linux Mint 11
Firefox 8
Nothing for Java is in the plugin list

I do not use linux mint but best working java plugin is the sun-java6-plugin package.

I don't understand, why I need java plugin for browser to open console for host with virtio disk and don't need it when the disk is created as IDE ? May be there are any additional requirements for virtio?

you need a java plugin for ALL Proxmox VE consoles. But if you use not a stable one, it can work sometimes, sometimes not. but this is not virtio related.

if possible, test your Proxmox VE host from a windows box with latest firefox or chrome.

You are right - Internet Explorer is able to open the console for computer with virtio disk and network card,
but I'm using Linux for management the Proxmox server! And everything was OK when the virtual hosts were with IDE and real network card. The problem raised only when I tried to create a computer with virtio.

Can you explain this effect ?

Can you explain this effect ?

yes, I already explained it. your java browser plugin is buggy - you the sun java browser plugin. e.g. on Ubuntu lts and debian its 'sun-java6-plugin', and remove the current plugin.
