I have two fresh installations of proxmox-ve. I have logged into both box's and added the IP and hostnames of both nodes to the hosts file in /etc.
I have testing pinging by name and ip on both nodes. Works without issue.
Creating the cluster on node1 works fine.
When running the command on node2 pvecm add node1 (tried both name and IP) node2 fails to start quorum.
I thought I made a mistake somewhere and I have rebuilt both box's twice now always ending with the same error.
Here is what I have done in steps. If you see a mistake please let me know.
Install from proxmox from CD ver 3.2-4/e24a91c1
setup the network, and hostname during install
from the console logon to each node and add the other node to /etc/hosts
test ping by name and ip on each node
on node1 run command pvecm create proxmox-cluster
wait till it starts the cluster
on node2 run command pvecm add node1
hangs on starting cluster at the quorum times out then fails.
I tried this a second time after I have created a shared iscsi storage thinking quorum may need to be on a shared storage. same problem
