Create VM Default Values - Resurrecting Feature Request

Googling, I find this topic has been raised a few times, but evidently no traction. It'd be extremely convenient to be able to modify the default values of the "Create VM" wizard. For example, 512MB of RAM for the default value is just too low for the majority of OS's - Linux included - unless headless.

Is there a way to submit this feature request or what is the proper procedure?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the user-customizable solution to this problem simply using templates? Generic ones even, if that's the case?

I'm not OP, but yeah I think using VM templates is good enough solution when creating a bunch of similar VMs. You can create templates based on your typical VM needs (e.g. small, med, large with varying specs).

Now a slightly unrelated question. How does everyone then go about changing networking settings , hostnames, /etc/hosts, and tweaking other configs since these are cloned from template VM?
