cpu with intell virtualization

Hi

I am running a dell t100 with an e5400 which intel rates as VT-x capable, yet Proxmox does not see this as usable for KVM. Any ideas? Is there another type of CPU I should be using that would work with the T100?

You may have to enable VT in the bios.

Per the Dell Doc - you need a Xeon processor, and VT needs to be enabled in the bios.

This seems to be a Xeon CPU.

There are no options to enable in the bios.

Now I am not so sure if it actually is - would the /proc/cpuinfo list xeon if it was? Looking at it - there is no mention of xeon.

Of some interest - the specs list VT-x yes VT-d no

is VT-d required?

I'm running Proxmox on a Dell Poweredge 840. I added a Xeon 3220 processor. I think that I could have added a Q6600 instead. I'm not sure about your chip.
