CPU recommendation for proxmox server

Hi Community,

We are looking to procure some servers to run proxmox . The physical servers will be used to run large VMs which will host memory intensive app for data platform. We are trying to figure out which is the best CPU for this use case. Can someone provide advise on what factors to consider for CPU.

We are looking at intel 5th Gen and 4th Gen CPUs

Since Proxmox is Debian with a custom Ubuntu kernel, pretty much runs on a 64-bit CPU with Intel VT/AMD-V hardware virtualization.

Have it running on Intel Sandy Bridge, Haswell, and Broadwell CPU generations with high CPU core counts with no issues.
