Hi,

I am trying to have very tight CPU management with proxmox.

Hardware will be 10Core, 20Thread CPU with 8VM.
This is fixed number and there will not be more or less VM that runs under this box.
What Im trying to achieve is the host to have 2C/4T and each VM to have 1C/2T

I want to strictly enforce this rule so I can check if guest VM gets throttled or not.

Can someone help me with enforcing this configuration?

Thanks,

This configuration does not need CPU pinning (i.e. a 1:1 mapping between pCPU and vCPU). Simply set the number of cores in the GUI (that includes hyperthreads) to 2, the linux kernel scheduler on PVE will automatically balance the VMs. That is, if all of them need their assigned resources, they will be spread across cores accordingly.

Actually manually creating a mapping is currently not yet supported, there is an entry in our bugtracker: https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3593
