Hi,
just managed to install pve on a test machine (desktop) on debian lenny (amd64)

using kernel

Linux 2.6.18-2-pve #1 SMP Mon Feb 1 10:45:26 CET 2010

pve complains in virtualmachine \create :
"Attention: KVM module not loaded. Maybe you need to enable Intel VT / AMD-V support in the BIOS."

cpu is intel core2 6420 () and it should have virtualization extensions,
http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/res...ocessor/processors/core2duo/feature/index.htm

i checked /cpuinfo:
"debian:/etc/init.d# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep vmx
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm syscall nx lm constant_tsc pni monitor ds_cpl vmx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr lahf_lm

how can i enable kvm here?

btw pve look AWESOME. i can't wait to give it a try...

Thanks
Marco

  • install the latest main board bios
  • activate VT in the bios
  • power off (reboot does not help)
and try again!

Thanks, Tom!

point 1: too risky
point 2 and 3 did the trick!!

we have now both containers...

Thank you very much!
Marco

PS: how to change the post tittle adding [solved]?
