TLS might be a limiting factor, so higher frequency CPUs will most likely perform better if that is your bottleneck.
But your limiting factor will most likely be the IO of the storage.
Also note: Checksum computation, compression and encryption are performed client side, so their performance must be considered as well. You can perform a basic benchmark using proxmox-backup-client benchmark command.
Hi Chris, thanks. Yeah, I have read many threads; trying to work out what hardware to buy. Reading through that thread it sounds like the conclusion was PBS isn't very parallel and thus a higher clock would be better. Albeit that OP found it's not CPU limited either.
