I have a 2 CPU server and one CPU is running hot. When I had few VMs defined and running, it was pretty cool. CPU2 ran a little hotter than CPU 1, but I chocked that up to issues with heat distribution and extraction in the case. Now that I have multiple VMs running, CPU2 has started to get hot. It's running at 70C with the lid off, and last night or this morning the server shut down I suspect because it over heated with the lid on. The other CPU is running under 40C (lid off).
Does Proxmox balance load across CPU sockets? I assumed that it did, I mean why wouldn't it? But the temperature numbers are saying something else.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: They are e5-2660 v2 CPUs. 3 architectures and 5+ generations old, with active cooling. (Thermalright AXP120). So none of the overpowering issues on the latest Intel architectures.
