Copy catalog and datastore vm's files in usb external disk

Hi, mi idea is save a weekly copy in external usb disk of my vm's.

Also need a copy of catalog.

Files of the vm's are stored in:

/mnt/datastore/pbs-storage/vm/100

/mnt/datastore/pbs-storage/vm/101

/mnt/datastore/pbs-storage/vm/...


Where search the catalog?

does not appear in /var/lib/proxmox-backup/

what exactly do you need? a list of files from a container/host backup?

the catalog that you see on the webui is not saved in a plain text format, but it is a (also chunked) custom binary format

better to use 'proxmox-backup-client catalog dump' for that

I'm thinking of an alternative to recover PBS and its virtual machines in case of a catastrophe in the datacenter.
Currently, with another solution, we have data backed up on an external drive that we took to another location.
My idea is to do something similar.
Being able to have copies on an external USB disk of:
/mnt/datastore/my_datastore/vm
And be able to recover them in a new PBS. For that you should also have the catalog.
I don't know if I'm well oriented, what do you recommend?

what do you mean here with catalog exactly?

if you want to copy the data elsewhere you have to copy the chunks (located in the '.chunks' folder) too

you can also setup a second pbs offsite and sync there or use the built-in tape backup
