Are there any tools or simple methods for converting from an older vmware esx setup to a proxmox setup?
The ESX server only has four virtual machines running. Three windows and one linux (the linux one can just be redone from scratch.) The windows virtual machines are running windows xp (two) and windows 2003 (one.)
Next up I need to know about the backup system. I can see it being quite simple to mount a remote systems drive via samba. Easy enough to create the backups too. How do you restore a backup?
Shared storage isnt the biggest problem for me as I will be using this on systems with raid5 and enough drives to support a drive failing with no downtime. But it is still a nice feature (to be used with HA of course.) I see it on the roadmap, any estimate on how long until that feature will be completed?
ps: you need a General Questions/Discussion section or something telling us where they should actually go.
