converting a directory storage to LVM

I've installed Proxmox 8.2 onto a server with 2 x 512GB nvme drives that are software RAID 1 via OVHs proxmox installer.

After the OVH induced installation, I have PVE running with "local" storage configured as a directory (mount point /var/lib/vz) and its using the majority share of the disk space (~479GB). I believe because its configured using directory storage, I cannot create any LVM-thin pools to get snapshot usage working for my virtual machines and LXCs.

How can I reconfigure PVE so that I have a much smaller "local" directory of 20GB and then a separate LVM-thin pool of 455GB?

Reinstall and use the Advanced Options to limit your root size, the rest should go to thin-lvm

However, if you're using root-on-zfs then you don't need lvm-thin, everything can go on the zfs filesystem

root-on-zfs being the option during installation where you set up ZFS on the physical drives available?

Could you please share your current storage configuration? Please provide the ouput of pvs and lvs in code tags.
