VM is Debian bullseye with GPU passthrough which has been giving me some issues, I'd like to test whether q35 will improve it.

Just switching to q35 causes it to hang on boot unless I remove the GPU passthrough, but even then, it loses network connectivity.

I presume the issue is it was installed with i440fx, is there a way to update that in the VM? I'm not sure if I'm up to a full reinstall and reconfig of everything on it :)

Thanks

nb. GPU is Intel Iris 655

That is very strange, normally Linux is much more forgiving in term of hardware change.

What is your VM configuration?

Thanks, this is the booting one. Change it to q35 and it hangs after loading grub
