Container running Ubuntu and KDE - ping and traceroute fine but no browser

In PVE 8.2.7 I have a container running Ubuntu 24.04 and KDE (accessed via xrdp). In console and in a KDE Konsole ping, traceroute etc work fine but any browser I install sas "No INTERNET". I've tried a new container, different windows managers and different browsers. Starting to think I'm going mad. What have I missed?

this could be a dns issue. Which dns server do you have configured (cat /etc/resolv.conf)? Can you ping 8.8.8.8 for example?

Hi thanks for the reply - nslookup is working fine in a konsole terminal

Try using curl, f.e. curl www.google.com – to check if there aren't any firewall rules disallowing http/s traffic.

No problem with curl either

Ok, that's weird, maybe the browsers cache some dns queries? Have you tried reinstalling the browser as well? Do all the browsers you tried show the same error?
