Hi,

Im using Proxmox with enterprise license and experiencing a problem with the console via the proxmox webbased dashboard. When im trying to connect to console of Linux based VMs the screen will stay black (showing nothing than black screen). When i look in the taskviewer is states 'no content'. Is there anyone who would know what the problem is?

I suspect this has to do with the latest upgrade as our other proxmox server is not experiencing this problem, also good to note, when i connect like this to the KaliLinux VM i am able to see the graphical user interface, it does only seem to affect the CLI login on Linux.

Below a screenshot of the taskviewer en my pveversion -v output

Please provide the config of one VM that has this issue. You can get the config by running qm config <VMID>.

Thanks for your quick answer, below the details:

Does pressing the return key help, perhaps?
Or do you get a blinking cursor?

Please provide a screenshot of the VNC console.

Can you switch to a different TTY with Ctrl + Alt + F1 or Ctrl + Alt + F2?

Did you enter it by enabling Ctrl and Alt in the VNC settings (Arrow on the left of the window)? And once enabled did you press F1 and F2 for testing?

It is happening for all Linux VMs that do not have a GUI right?
A Linux VM with a desktop env works fine? Same for Windows guests?

What Linux distribution(s) are they?
If those VMs are (re)booted, do you see the Proxmox logo and the whole boot procedure of the VM?

It is happening for all Ubuntu VMs that do not have GUI rights so far, we have no other setups on this without GUI.
We have a KaliLinux that works with GUI without problems on this same node.

Yes if those are rebooted we see the proxmox logo, although nothing else after that.

Do you know which version exactly? I do not run that many Ubuntu servers, but haven't run into that problem myself.

You could try to set a different GPU. For example, try to set the Display to VMWare compatible or VirtIO GPU and see if that helps.

I have the same question. and did the trick by change the display. I upgraded the pve version before I had the problem。Can I fix the problem perfectly by upgrading the standard VGA driver.Do you have any suggestion
