Hi,

I am new to Proxmox but am loving it. I am playing around a lot right now but because of school i am not home for 7+ hours a day and thus tried to port forward port 8006 so that I would be able to access my server from other LAN:s, but I only get errors when trying. I am also trying to set up a minecraft server, which works locally but also gets Connection Refused when i use my public IP and port. is there a problem with the firewall or is there something else I need to change?

Regards
Andreas

glad you're enjoying it :)

where is your server running?

if it's behind a router, to be able to access it remotely over the internet you will need to allow and forward that port.

is there a problem with the firewall or is there something else I need to change?
check the documentation of your router for how to do that, but basically you will have to:

* allow port 8006 on the router firewall
* forward port 8006 to the internal IP address of your PVE host

so it would look like this, e.g. if your PVE IP is 192.168.1.100 and your public IP address is 1.2.3.4

internet -> 1.2.3.4:8006 -> (NAT port forwarding) -> 192.168.1.100:8006

if you want to use SPICE display for your VMs you'll also need port 3128.

for the minecraft server you'll have to forward to the internal IP address of your minecraft server, and the port where it's running.

hope this helps!

I have port forwarded 8006 but it still only says err_connection_closed, and for minecraft, I have port forwarded to the server as well but there it says connection refused

can you show us the forwarding rules?

Here are the rules for my proxmox server and mnecraft server. My router doesn't show the port numbers but the proxmox one is 8006 and the minecraft is 25566, i have changed thatt in the server.properties also.

okay :)

i still can't get minecraft to work
can't really tell much from the picture you sent...
make sure you have the correct IP address and port for your minecraft server in your forwarding rule (you need the internal IP of your minecraft server VM/container)

I was jsut stupid and only changed one of the settings for which port minecraft listened to :)
