Hi ,

I am trying to connect Proxmox with Lenovo ThinkSystem DE4000H Hybrid Storage Array

I have setup the DE4000H and I have 2x Volumes assigned to hosts ports. It gives me a Host Port (a path like a Mac Address and a label)

I have tried many things but I cant figure out how to make Proxmox to connect with the storage so as to create the VM's there.

Any ideas how to do it ?

I will appreciate any feedback

Thanks in advance

Hello

Do I understand you correct? You have a Proxmox server to which you want to connect another server/storage solution?

How did you connect them? Over the network? What storage type are you using?
(Here a link to the documentation of storages)

Can you share your storage config? You can get it with [ICODE]journalctl --since '2023-12-13' > $(hostname)-journal.txt[/ICODE].

Also, lets see if there is anything reported in your journal for the last day.
journalctl --since '2023-12-13' > $(hostname)-journal.txt

Regards
Philipp

I have one server connected with fiber optics on storage.
Planning to add a second server as well for redundancy/HA

Since all the disks dont have the same capacity the storage doesnt allow me to create a single pool but I am allowed to create 2x volumes.
Then the storage allows me to create 2x workloads.
The volumes get a WWID and a LUN
Then I have to create hosts and then these workloads are assigned to hosts.
After I finish the host give me a host port for example
00:11:99:XX:YY:11:5A:55 and a label XXXXX

With these I guess the configuration of the storage is completed so I just need to figure out how do I connect it to proxmox.

I would start with https://www.manua.ls/lenovo/thinksystem-de4000h/manual
- Chapter 2. System setup and configuration
- Linux express configuration
There may be more comprehensive guides provided by the manufacture.

Once you are done with basic Storage and Linux setup, check the output of "lsscsi" (may need to "apt install lsscsi") and/or "lsblk".
When you confirm that the Proxmox host (Debian Linux) sees the disks, you can then follow this document : https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage:_LVM

There are some other options, but the above is the simplest way to get started.

Good luck
