Hi everyone,
Very new to Proxmox here. I'm attempting to move off of a Raspberry Pi for my home server for better performance and more flexibility to run more things, and Proxmox seems to be the best option for me. I currently have it up and running on a Dell Optiplex with decent specs, but without any containers currently.
I am trying to run a Nextcloud instance (among other things) while not exposing my home IP address to the internet, which I know is done through a VPN, which I use on my devices at home. However, I'll also need to access the server remotely, hence why I do not have the current home server running through a VPN. In an effort to do things right the first time, here is what I am trying to accomplish:
1.) Set up Proxmox to run all of its traffic through a VPN, which I understand is best done at the router level.
2.) Access individual containers remotely, outside my home network, without exposing my home IP.
It seems that the best way to go about this is to set up a dedicated VPN router and connect my Proxmox computer to it, but maybe that is overkill or unnecessary? I would love to here you all's thoughts on this. Thanks!
