Ran into permission issues when trying to migrate vms from vmware esxi to pve... I'm about to switch over to using the ovftool to see if that works.




this is a cifs mount at /mnt/vmware:

It seems that you don't have permissions on the actual filesystem.

That does not mean anything. You have a lot of possibilities to restrict it:
- client user
- client mount options
- server samba settings
- server filesystem settings (octal)
- server filesystem settings (acl)
- server filesystem errors and read-only mount

Yes, it is always a PITA do debug samba permission problems, because nothing is as easy as it seems.
