I am having an issue getting the two nodes to join a cluster that I have just created. I have tried to copy the join information from the first node and copy it to the second node however I get the attached message. The first server IP is 172.16.2.10 and I am trying to get 172.16.2.20 to join.

Your report says that you tried to use the ip address 172.16.2.50.
What is the ip address of the node you created the cluster on and what is the ip addresses of the nodes you try to join the cluster with ?

I know that's why this is so strange because the node was created on 172.16.2.10 and I was trying to connect 172.16.2.20 to the cluster. I do have a third server on 172.16.2.50 but nothing has been down with that one until I get the second one added.

Sounds like you have changed the ip address of the nodes from 172.16.2.50 to 172.16.2.10 but forgot to change it everywhere
Can you print your /etc/network/interfaces, ip a and /etc/hosts of both of these servers and /etc/pve/corosync.conf of the server with the cluster?

Attached is the screenshots of the server with the cluster and yes I did change the IP address from from 172.16.2.50 to 172.16.2.10. There is no corosync.conf for 172.16.2.20

One problem is that you forgot to change the ip address of the second server. Please change the ip address to 172.16.2.20 in the /etc/hosts file, reboot and try again forming a cluster

The node which is about to join the cluster may not contain any VMs/LXC container.
This is due to the difficulty when merging two machines with the same VMID.
What you can do to solve the problem:
(a) If it is possible to shutdown the machine.
1. shutdown the machine
2. create a backup
3. load && start the backup on node containing the Cluster.
(b) if it is not possible to shutdown the machine.
use qm remote-migrate or pct remote-migrate to migrate the VM/LXC cross cluster onto the node containing the Cluster
