Hello

I have ClusterA and ClusterB with same management network subnet.

ClusterA VMs sitting on NFS and ClusterB has access to this NFS share as well.

In VMware I would power off the VM in ClusterA - unregister and go to ClusterB to view the datastore and add back the VM.

May I know what is the equivalent in Proxmox 8.2.7 please?

The VM config does not reside in the VM storage directory like it is with VMware.

You would need to copy or move the NNN.conf file from /etc/pve of one cluster to the other. And make sure there is no ID conflict and the storages and network bridges are all named the same. Otherwise you would have to edit the configuration file.

In such a scenario you would have to make very sure that you never have VMs with the same ID running on both clusters.

Dear Gurubert,

Thank you for the information. Yes on the new cluster i made edited the options in Datacenter section to make the LOW VMID starts at 1000

With your information on the NNN.conf PVE location i am going to try and copy it :)

Best Regards,
Edy

the config file is at /etc/pve/nodes/node16-86/qemu-server vmid.conf for example 100.conf

What i did was stop the VM at ClusterA (powered off status)
copy and create the 100.conf in ClusterB /etc/pve/nodes/compute-16-111/qemu-server

I could immediately power on the VM once the file is in ClusterB.

This could be a great disaster recovery solution assuming the shared storage is protected in both locations where ClusterA and ClusterB lives
