So I already posted before and fixed my issue by doing a fresh reinstall. I am now having new issues and I feel like I setup my server wrong and have been going crazy reading and watching videos online for days.
Here's my network hardware:
- Onboard 1Gb nic (enp7s0)
- Dual 1Gb nic pci-e (enp5s0 / 6s0)
- Dual SFP+ nic (enp8s0f0 / f1)
- Mikrotik 2011 router (set up as unmanaged switch)
- Netgear wireless router (set up as wireless AP)
Here is what I am trying to do:
- Have OPNsense be my virtualized router.
--- It connects to my ISP through PPPoEMy, a SFP ONT is connected to enp8s0f1.
--- It manages dhcp, connected to mikrotik router through a Cat6 cable on enp5s0
- I also want to have my desktop computer connected to it (and the proxmox server) through a 10 Gbit/s fiber link, now connected to enp8s0f0. I'd like the link to be bridged to other VM at 10 Gbit/s and not have it passed through the physical switch at 1 Gbit/s.
- I need the VMs to be assigned IPs by OPNsense.
Here is what I have right now:
enp7s0 -> vmbr0 (static 192.168.2.2) -> vtnet0 -> Mikrotik RJ45
enp5s0 -> vmbr1 (nil) -> vtnet1 (OPNsense bridged with vtnet 2-3, - LAN) -> Mikrotik RJ45
enp6s0 -> vmbr2 (nil) -> vtnet2
enp8s0f0 -> vmbr3 (nil) -> vtnet3
enp8s0f1 -> vmbr4 (nil) -> vtnet4 (OPNsense - WAN PPPoE)
I would love any insights on cleaning up this setup that seems messy to me and optimizing it.
Sidenote enp6s0 is doing nothing, wondering if it should be used as LAGG with mikrotik to allow for smoother traffic between OPNsense and the rest of the network.
Thanks in advance for the help.
