Good morning/afternoon/evening,

I currently have plans on upgrading the hardware running my Proxmox VE installation. Included in the upgrade is moving to a RAID 10 configuration. I have searched and searched, but can't seem to find an answer to this.

What would be the cheapest, but GOOD raid card to purchase that will work properly with Proxmox VE? It needs to be PCI-E / SATA compatible.

Thank you!

Edit : Perhaps the HighPoint RocketRAID 2640x1 will work?

I had good success with Adaptec 2405 cards. It has the drawback of not supporting battery - if it's important for you, you might consider the 3405. If you also plan on upgrading your mobo, you can purchase one with an onboard hwraid controller (from Supermicro for example).

Perc5/i
Perc5/e
Perc6/i
Perc6/e

All are decent pci-e 8x raid controllers that work under pve and can be found on ebay with a bbu for cheap ($100-150).

Thanks both of you for the suggestions! I picked up one of the Dell Perc 5i cards with BBU and 2 sets of 4 port SAS -> SATA cables for $140. I figured this was a pretty good deal, considering I have found the cables to be around $30 each and the battery was around 20-30 as well.

I've kind of decided to stick with the system I am running right now and just upgrade storage. It's currently a Core i3 system with 8gb ram and about 1.5TB of space (just two drives in LVM). I may upgrade to an i5 or i7 down the line.

Thank you all again!
