Changing host "console" resolution?

Nice tip! You can also play around with my ' setfont ' tip to change the font size OTF

Yes, that worked. Got a little concerned with the lack of English listed but realized it must be the Uni2 and Uni3. Regardless, a reboot reverted it.

I did also use dpkg-reconfigure console-setup (which I had used before, but it doesn't change resolution) to configure a more appropriate font for my weird monitor.

Also, doing a setfont Uni2-VGA16 (which is pretty small) and then running hollywood is pretty hilarious.

Code:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet gfxpayload=text nomodeset"
GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep

Do not forget to update-grub

To list available resolutions, in Grub console use vbeinfo for BIOS and videoinfo for EFI mode.
I guess this has to do with the particular hardware used as well.

After trying several of the solution mentioned this one final worked for my HP-Z420, with an off brand graphix card.
