Change network adapter ID

I had someone setup Proxmox and when they did, they ran a Linux command to see what ID the wired ethernet was using.
Then they ran a Linux command to change that ID (as Proxmox was trying to use the WiFi ethernet address)
I am no longer in contact with that individual and need to know how to change it.
Canot login to Proxmox because it will not connect to the internet/network.

Cable is fine as the internet works in a native install.
