Hi,

We are affected by a bug which has been merged and backported to Ceph Pacific, to be included in the next v16.2.7 release, which was released for testing as RC1 on the 3rd of December. There is additionally a data corruption bug which recommends that people not upgrade to Pacific until after 16.2.6 which is what is available via PVE 7.1 currently.

I'm hoping Proxmox will release Ceph Pacific v16.2.7 updates packages shortly after the official Ceph Pacific 16.2.7 release announcement...

The bug that is affecting us relates to RBD snapshot to snapshot differences listing all allocated objects when restricting diffs to be full 4 MiB objects:

Hi,

There is additionally a data corruption bug which recommends that people not upgrade to Pacific until after 16.2.6 which is what is available via PVE 7.1 currently.

FYI: We've documented the safe workaround for the cause of the issue since it got known in our update guide:

I'm hoping Proxmox will release Ceph Pacific v16.2.7 updates packages shortly after the official Ceph Pacific 16.2.7 release announcement...
It's available on our test repository since Thursday last week (2021-12-09), and we'll move it out to the main repository soon.

Is it save to upgrade from 16.2.6-pve2 to 16.2.7 without any further tasks?
Some Ceph user reported that they ran into an issue where some Ceph monitor did not start up, we created a troubleshooting entry for that in the general pacific upgrade wiki:
https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Ceph_O..._crashes_after_minor_16.2.6_to_16.2.7_upgrade

But, we did not manage to run into this in our various test and production upgrades done for this upgrade. So, we rather mentioned it to be cautious. It doesn't seem to be that much likely and if one runs into that issue, they can still fix it afterwards.
