Ceph librbd vs krbd

We typically only have KVM VMs in proxmox and currently use Krbd. I was informed by my colleague librbd is better for qemu kvm worloads. We mainly have vms hosting websites and sql.

He stated there is major improvements on librbd recently that make it better? something about it being rewritten to use an asynchronous model now?

Currently its running ok but do you think we should change to librbd instead. Is it as easy an unticking krbd optiion in storage? Must we restart the VMs?

Based on our experience, KRBD often results in better performance but isn't as up-to-date when it comes to new features.
When changing, live migration between nodes is enough to switch from one to the other.
