[SOLVED] Ceph: Dedicated Journal Disks?

Hi there,

for better understanding I have the following questions about (dedicated) journal disks:

When my OSDs are fast (for example 4x Samsung 1,92TB PM863a per node): Does it make sense using a (slower) 240GB PM863a as a dedicated journal disk for these four OSDs? Or would it be better to put the journals on the OSDs? Is it correct that putting the journals on the OSDs increases availability (no "single point of failure" concerning the dedicated journal disk an one host)?

You do not need an extra journal if you OSD are enterprise class SSD like PM863a.
