Hello Support,

We are trying to create a Ceph storage from SCSI Storage protocol. It is mapped from Dell PowerStorage Server.

1) The actual mapped storage is 5TB , but it is showing 8 disks with 5TB each in Proxmox Disks
2) It is throwing an error while creating an OSD in Ceph

"command 'ceph-volume lvm create --cluster-fsid f630bd18-7802-474c-8eb0-efc6ed4071f5 --data /dev/sdd' failed: exit code 1"

I am attaching the required details, PFApowerstore.PNG

I have two answers for you-

1. all of the powerstore "drives" have the same serial number. How many actual LUNs did you create? are you using multipathing?
2. ceph on an external raid device kinda defeats the purpose. what storage are you using for your other nodes?

My guess is that you have some misconceptions about the solution you're trying to deploy. You dont need ceph for shared storage since your powerstore already provides this functionality.

Please let us know how to add Dell power store500T lUN [FC] to proxmox nodes ?

Its very important and we are unable to add SAN lun to Proxmox nodes .

please let us know if any idea .

This is a two step process. the first is to create and map the luns. user guides can be found here- https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000130110/powerstore-info-hub-product-documentation-videos

the second part is to map the luns to your host(s). Assuming you're using ethernet and not fibre channel, this is covered here: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage:_iSCSI

edit- just noticed the [FC] in your question. this makes it a bit easier; use the instructions in your storage to obtain your HBAs WWN and add it to the lun mapping (do that for each of your hosts) and they will just show up on your host (assuming your hba is supported by debian.)

Once you establish connection, you can pursue more advanced functions such as multipathing.

Building on top of @alexskysilk post, once you have the LUNs show up on all nodes and properly Multipathed, the next step is to partition/present the storage to PVE. Your only built-in, ie supported, option is LVM (Thick), see Table 1 for reference https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage

Its very important that you properly setup Multipath, given that you have at least 8 paths to your initial LUN. You should refer to Dell/EMC support documentation that describes connectivity and multipath configuration for Linux/Debian client host.
