Ceph Cluster Expansion Documentation?

Hello!

I was reviewing the following documentation here:
https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html

I can't seem to locate a document anywhere that describes expanding an existing cluster with another like node? While I do understand that everyones cluster is different - there is no offical documentation on this? There are various threads that offer clues and snippets, but nothing offical.

Is this an oversight on my part (not looking at the right documentation)?

Ah! You are correct. However in my hurry I wasn't specific. I need to edit the title.

Do you know where the Ceph specific items are? Or do I just need to real the upstream docs and "figure it out" ?

While I am not a Ceph expert, I believe the following article covers the steps:
https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Deploy_Hyper-Converged_Ceph_Cluster

It may not have an isolated "add new node" section, but adding an OSD/monitor is akin to adding a new "ceph member". Which, as you noticed, is not the same as adding a new node to PVE cluster.

I would think so to. Just do the same steps as you did the first time. Join the new node to the PVE cluster than do the ordinary CEPH install with the same commands as before. It is always a good idea to document what you do so you can just run the commands from the initial install again on new nodes joining the cluster.

It is a cluster I inherited which is fine. Any existing documentation was non-existent. I think with what there is online and with some educated guess work we can probably figure it out.

That's sad, yet common in most companies. We run therefore a documentation first setup.
