I am creating a Centos 7 VM inside Proxmox 4.x with ZFS. I plan on using Ext4 or XFS for a file system in the Centos VM. When setting up the disks on Centos should I use "Standard Partition", "LVM" or "LVM Thin Provision"? I would not mind the ability to make the root partition bigger down the road if needed but its not essential.

This should help you: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Resize_disks
Parted should work fine online, without any LVM. Works here on Ubuntu 14.04 fine. Works no on 12.04 (and other syntax), does not work for me in CentOS7 (also another syntax... nice), yes i think LVM is a good middleway. So set the physical disksize big enought (like 100GB), and give the LVS only a bit. Then it is easy to handle.
