can't shutdown/reset/stop

I was trying to boot a VM from a Centos live CD, and ended up with a "No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found" and a "boot:" prompt on the console.

Nothing I can do via the GUI will allow me to reset/shutdown this VM. Shutdown just sits there waiting and waiting. And I suspect that because shutdown is trying to shutdown, reset and stop give errors:

trying to acquire lock...
TASK ERROR: can't lock file '/var/lock/qemu-server/lock-2210.conf' - got timeout

How do I kill this VM?

ok, to answer my own question, I had to wait for shutdown to timeout, and then I could reset (or more importantly, to stop it)

You could also kill the shutdown job first, then issue a stop command ...

Thank you dietmar. I wasn't sure if it was safe to do so.

In a worst-case scenario, is it safe to kill the PID of "/usr/bin/kvm -id <vmid-of-VM-that-wont-shut-down>"

Depend on what you mean by 'safe' (it kills the VMs).

ALL the VMs or just that single VM? (don't they have different PIDs? Or are they linked in some way that is beyond my knowledge?)
