Can't see USB disk to add into PVE

I'm trying to add a disk to my node so it can be added to a VM but it wont show up under disks. If I plug it into a windows machine all is happy, but when I plug it into the PVE machine it is never detected. I know once it's detected i will need to format it, but just can't get it to be recognized. Any ideas? I'm running PVE 8.4.0

What exactly are you seeing? What do you expect to see when you plug it?
What commands are you executing?
On what base do you think it isn't detected?
