I have an install of Proxmox that is always flakey when I try to log in, I have to enter my user/pass several times until it finally accepts it. I searched for how to fix this and ended up with this thread. https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/login-failed.24215/

I followed the suggestion to uninstall and reinstall pve-manager but the reinstall did not work.
I've done apt-get update, upgrade, dist-upgrade and tried changing my repo locations.
When I try to install I get dependancy errors or suggestions to fix broken install.

I have no idea what to try next.

pveversion -v

Looks like it is trying to download from Jessie not Stretch

it seems you have not properly upgraded your 4.4 install to 5.0?

can you post the content of all of
/etc/apt/sources.list
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/*

?

Thanks for the reply, this seems likely the case.

/etc/apt/sources.list
#deb cdrom:[Proxmox 4.2]/ jessie pve
#deb cdrom:[Proxmox 4.2]/proxmox/packages/ /
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian stretch main contrib

# security updates
#deb http://security.debian.org stretch/updates main contrib
deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve stretch pve-no-subscription

cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*
#deb https://enterprise.proxmox.com/debian/pve stretch pve-enterprise
deb https://enterprise.proxmox.com/debian jessie pve-enterprise
#deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian jessie pvetest
deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve stretch pve-no-subscription

delete/comment those lines and try an

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

When I made the changes you suggested I initially got the following error
#apt-get update
Fetched 13.0 MB in 3s (3,716 kB/s)
Reading package lists... Done
W: Target Packages (pve-no-subscription/binary-amd64/Packages) is configured multiple times in /etc/apt/sources.list:5 and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pve-install-repo.list:1

So I commented out the pve in sources.list but left it in the pve-instal-repo.list and then got this error

#apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
zfs-initramfs : Depends: zfsutils-linux but it is not installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

I have no idea what is going on but now I can connect to the webUI where as before it was not running.
