[SOLVED] Can't get Wireguard to access internet from KVM

I have installed wireguard on a kvm with Ubuntu 20.04, the handshake/communication between my home computer and the kvm on proxmox works but no access to the internet, I have turned off the firewall on kvm and temporarily disabled the firewall on the proxmox server, but still no success to get out on internet.

Any suggestions on what I can try more to get this working?

Hi, I mean how does the whole setup looks like? Do you have setup NAT/masquerading on the wireguard VM so that it allows traffic to actually go to the internet?

don't forget the:

net.ipv4.ip_forward=1

and

PostUp = iptables -A FORWARD -i wg0 -j ACCEPT; iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o IFACE -j MASQUERADE
PostDown = iptables -D FORWARD -i wg0 -j ACCEPT; iptables -t nat -D POSTROUTING -o IFACE -j MASQUERADE

in the wg0.conf.

Change IFACE for your VM interface, probably eth0

I did a re-install of Ubuntu 20.04 and followed a big part of this guide and compared to the one elmarconi linked to and finally got the VPN to work.
