Can't get into proxmox

Dear reader,

I have installed proxmox for the first time.
In fact I have installed in twice assuming I did something wrong but still I cant login to proxmox, not on the machine itself, nor with SSH, nor access the WebGUI.

I have googled for hours and can't seem to find anyone with the same issue.

My first problem is as next, I have tried to login on the physical machine using the user root and my password.
On both installations it said my password is wrong.

The WEBGUI is unaviable, so I tried to SSH into the machine. on 192.168.1.195:8006 as the phisical machine suggest. I can't het any connection.
When I try to SSH to 192.168.1.195 I get asked for a password but I get the following message "finke@192.168.1.195: Permission denied (publickey,password)."

So I am totally lost, I can't seem to go right, left, forward or backwards. how do I get myself into this machine?

you dont ssh into :8006, that is a GUI port for https access

update your SSH client to use root. If you are ssh'ing from some sort of Linux host, type "ssh root@192.168.1.195"
